Woodlands Primary School
Woodlands Primary School is a vibrant, community-focused school, but its outdated website didn’t reflect that. With unused components and a cluttered layout, finding essential information, especially for parents and carers, was harder than it needed to be. The redesign focused on making the site more intuitive, welcoming, and reflective of the school’s values.

The Brief
The existing website had become outdated and difficult to navigate, with lengthy pages of text and multiple unused components that made it feel neglected and rarely updated. The brief was to create a refreshed, user-centred structure that would make it easier for families to access important information. Key goals included surfacing common parent tasks, organising content into clearer sections, and updating the school’s visual identity by brightening the existing colour palette and modernising the typography.
The Solution
We restructured the site navigation around three main content areas: general information about the school, teaching and learning programs, and practical resources for parents and carers. A new set of quick links brings frequently accessed tasks like absentee forms, canteen orders and enrolment information to the forefront. Throughout the project, I worked closely with the principal and admin staff, helping guide them through the content refinement process based on the agreed information architecture.
Visually, we evolved the Woodlands colour palette, using lighter tones to create a more modern and engaging interface. We also introduced new secondary brand elements to bring more personality and consistency to the design. The typography was updated to improve readability and give the site a fresher, more playful feel. The result is a site that is more welcoming, easier to use, and better aligned with the strong values and sense of community at the heart of Woodlands Primary School.
